Algae control in aquariums

Natural algae makes it possible for algae eaters to carry out their natural grazing behaviour and algae can also help you keep the water quality up by binding organic waste. There are however situation when the algae growth gets out of control and turns into a serious problem in the tank.
Green algae control is rarely necessary in aquariums since green algae tend to be beneficial for fish – string algae and hair algae are more serious and will normally appear when the ecosystem has been disturbed in some way. It is however quite common among aquarist to exercise green algae control as well for purely esthetical reasons.
